Teaching Methodology

Keeping in mind the current practices in education, the school has conscientiously moved towards a more student-directed learning. There is great emphasis on providing a hands-on experience to the students through field trips, live experiments, cross-curricular blended learning, research work and presentations. There is a paradigm shift in the process of learning wherein the focus is on the acquisition of creative and critical thinking skills within a holistic environment.

Learning outcomes for the outbound activities and field trips are meticulously planned in a way that they are linked to the topics that are being studied inside the classroom. In this way, what the students have learnt from their books comes alive for them and helps them connect with the real world outside.

Flipped classroom teaching is an area that the school has moved towards recently wherein the students are motivated to study the teaching material before-hand and use the class room for discussion and to sharpen their insights. The flipped classroom intentionally shifts instruction to a learner-centered model in which class time explores topics in greater depth and creates meaningful learning opportunities, while educational technologies such as online videos are used to ‘deliver content’ outside of the classroom. In a flipped classroom, ‘content delivery’ may take a variety of forms. Often, video lessons prepared by the teacher are used to deliver content.

Facilities

The School is justifiably proud of a spacious, well-stocked library cum e-source centre, open 7 days a week, designed to encourage students to develop an interest in a variety of subjects and allow them the facility of research and in-depth study. State-of-the-art, well equipped laboratories provide excellent facilities in Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Computer Science, Mathematics, History, Geography. Computer Science is compulsory up to Class VIII and is offered both as a subject and as a co-curricular activity thereafter. The School makes extensive use of audio-visual ICT-enabled teaching aids. Each class has internet connectivity along with an interactive white board.

Assessment System

Promotion to the next class at the end of the academic year is on the basis of a scheme of continuous assessment and is in accordance with the rules decided upon by the School Affiliated Board. A student is required to achieve a minimum of 40% marks in each subject and a total aggregate of 40% marks, as per the rules which govern the  Board Examination. The school ensures skill based question papers. The assessment tabulation sheet is prepared according to skills such as knowledge, comprehension, application, analysis, evaluation and synthesis.

At the Class IX and X, XI & XII stage, students are prepared for the Board Examination, held at the end of Class X.

To ensure uniformity in teaching and learning at the All-India level, we are partnering with some of the best organizations in the field of school education offering external assessments such as Educational Initiatives, who offer Detailed Assessment Mind Snark for adaptive learning in Mathematics, Diagnostic Test and Open Door for formative assessment.
